Going back through the archives, I am catching up on recent shoots that haven't actually been shared on the blog.
Although my good friend B wasn't feeling very well this day, she was a great sport and was willing to try just about anything that I suggested to her. In the end, she looks marvelous! This year has been so busy for me that I have not had the chance to catch up on the blog.
But here goes the first of a few posts to get me caught up. This is the G. family. They are huge fun. I love mom's choices for outfits. Not to mention the cutest little girl. It was such a fun shoot because they had some specific ideas about what they wanted to do. The most fun had to be when we went to the harley shop and posed with Daddy's Harley. Ok, I have been doing alot since November, somehow it just has not been making it to the blog. That's the problem when you are your own boss, sometimes you let things like the blog get put to the bottom of the list. So, here are a few updates. Not all of it, but a brief overview. Let's start with the big news, I made the plunge and invested in some large studio lights. Let me just qualify that by saying that my speedlights have been very, very good, but I just had to see what sort of difference I could get with some studio lights... I have to say, I love the CONTROL!! The first few shots are all with those new lights. I will get over my love affair with them fairly soon, but in the meantime, its a great honeymoon. Chanelling the Inner Justin Bieber Simple, clean headshot. Having some fun. Another gorgeous model. I just loved this couple, and the emotion in this image is just so powerful. This has to be one of the most loving husbands I have ever met, and it shows. Something different. But she is just such a beautiful woman. I love the eyelashes. The future grandmothers crocheted and knitted all sorts of goodies for baby, I couldn't resist one of these shots, no matter how many times I have seen this one done before. Look at the beautiful skin on that belly. Lucky Woman. Was blessed to be part of the Kidney Foundation's Kidney March kickoff event this year. Even though the weather was atrocious, the turn-out was wonderful, the stories were amazing and the night was unforgettable. IF you do not know about the kidney foundation and what they are raising awareness for, please do a little googling and educate yourself, it is a cause worth supporting.
I had my weekend off, and this weekend I think I made up for it, for sure. This was a wonderfully busy weekend. I was sad that the wind was so chilly, it really made the outdoor shoots a bit more challenging. Things started off early on Saturday morning. I met my first family down in the Rotary Park connected to Fish Creek Park. They had a cute little boy, with another one to come soon. So, I will definitely have some new baby pics in a few weeks. Stay tuned for that one. :) That afternoon I had another family shoot. I have worked with R and her family before, in fact they were one of my very first clients. They wanted to celebrate their youngest's first birthday, and have some photos to remember. Sunday morning I was planning on being out early to the zoo, but that shoot got postponed. My next shoot was with K and her new baby. I was so excited to see this little one. She was so calm and slept almost the entire time. When she did wake up, she had the most enormous blue eyes. She will really be a knockout when she grows up, just gorgeous. My final shoot on Sunday was with a couple expecting their very first. They were a referral from another client. (Thank-You K.) I just have to say how great it is to get referrals, it lets me know that I am heading in the right direction.
So, there will definitely be some more wee ones in weeks to come. Seems like there is an overwhelming amount of new ones on the way. :) Just two shoots this weekend. It was a nice break. Saturday was a great day for shooting and I met with G and A for their portraits. We worked indoors and then went for a nice walk in Westwinds park. First time I was there, and I will be back for sure. On Sunday I got to meet K and J and their new arrival. Great light on Sunday evening, and K some really good ideas ready when I arrived. Their little peanut was quite co-operative and even gave me a few smiles. Pretty exciting considering she is only 8 weeks.
Ok, I got busy this week and wasn't on the ball with last weekend's shoot. Mea Culpa. So quickly, here it is. Saturday I was almost in Airdrie for a shoot. Bright sunny day, but oh boy was there some wind. Worked with a great couple who are expecting baby #1, and it is a surprise. I don't know how people can go without knowing, I guess it is the joy in the surprise. I had a second shoot on Sunday, way far south of the city. I have to say it was a perfect morning for a drive. The sun was so warm and it was a nice calm day.
There were some great little locations around the shoot area that we tried out and I am happy to say that I got some wonderful shots. I am sure S and her husband will be quite happy with the end results. Wow, what a terrific weekend! Canada sets the record for gold. Loved the hockey game. Way to go. Saturday was jam packed. In the morning I worked with A and her little one. There was a definite ladybug theme. So cute, and I have to mention their puppy "Tequila", that little one was trying to steal the show. In the afternoon I had an outdoor shoot in Fish Creek Park. What a gorgeous day to go out and get some wonderful shots. I worked with L and her family. Two gorgeous little girls. They were delighted to explore all the great outdoors has to offer. When I said Saturday was jam packed, I wasnt kidding. I did a consult for a very small wedding. I am very excited for this one, but no more details. I will save the surprise until after the big day.
Sunday was a bit quieter, I only had one shoot. It was with E and A. They are expecting a new bundle of joy very soon. I have to say as soon as I saw E I was so excited because she had this gorgeous belly. She had picked out some terrific outfits and accessories. Since we had such great weather again, we went outdoors for part of the shoot. That bright sunlight can sure be tricky, but I think that we got some great shots in the end. My first shoot on the weekend was with K and her husband. Just moved into an incredible new home, I did some shots of the house and then got down to the belly. K was full of fantastic ideas, angel wings, roses, and great costumes. She was fantastic at posing and by the end of the shoot I just had to ask if she had ever done any modeling. It turns out that she was Miss_____ (some European Country) a few years ago. I was quite impressed, but to look at her, you would not be surprised to hear something like that. My second shoot was with S and her husband. They are expecting baby number 1. Again, S is one of those expectant moms who has some great ideas. I was absolutely in love with S's eye make-up, it was just so dramatic.
I am excited to see both of these little boys in a few weeks. |
