This beautiful couple called me just a few weeks before their wedding to see if I was available. AMAZINGLY, I was!
Even if I hadn't been, I would have gone out of my way to help them find an awesome Photographer for their special day.
The Bride and I were close friends, all through our high school years. While our lives have taken us to very different places, we still make an effort to stay in touch, and when we get together, its like the years between never existed.
I was so excited to be able to see her marry this very sweet man!
Check out their engagement photos here.
There are so many details with this wedding that I just loved.
The bride wanted a casual, comfortable wedding, part of that included a non-traditional dress.
She made the trip up to Calgary before the wedding to go dress shopping, I was thrilled to be able to join her for this adventure because she wasn't searching for a traditional gown. She was more interested in something that fit her personal style and her ideas for the wedding.
This was the beautiful dress that we discovered!
The next step was finding some gorgeous boots to finish it off!
The beautiful Alberta foothills. There are very few locations that are as lovely!
The bride has an incredible family who made sure her day was taken care of. They cooked the food, prepared the site, decorated and cleaned up.
This wedding was a small intimate gathering, and the love that the family members and friends have for the bride and groom is evident in all that they did for the couple.
Getting ready before the ceremony.
Right after I DO!
The whole family joined in!
The Bride's parents.
You can see how much they are still in love with each other, even after all the years they have been together!
The wedding party! Now, all Family.
I took the Bride and Groom out for some creative, quiet time.
The Bride let me do some creative things with her! This is what we came up with.
Having a little Country Fun!
And some time with the horses!
Almost forgot to do the garter!
She wasn't really excited to have caught the garter.
Once in a while, I can be convinced to be in one of the photos.
for inviting me to share in your day!
Special Thanks also to my second photographer & assistant

D&B have been guests and wedding party members at a couple of weddings that I have photographed in the past.
This time, it was finally their wedding.
D&B are definitely a couple who LOVE their families, and their families love them.
As I watched the activities over the weekend, I couldn't help but hope that one day my family will show that kind of love and expression to each other.
D wanted to wear her mother's wedding gown for her ceremony.
This was such a lovely expression of tradition and respect, and its very rarely something I have photographed.
You could see how appreciative both her parents were when she revealed the dress to them.
The whole wedding was focused on their friends and family just having fun and a chance to have a weekend together to bond. It was such a great idea to allow the two families more time to become one.
Some images of the bride.

And a few of the Groom.
It was such a beautiful small town chapel.
The fun stuff.
The REALLY Fun Stuff!!

A&T have to be the most steady couple I have yet to work with. Three days before their wedding, their venue was completely under water. They had to scramble to find a location at the last moment, and THEY DID! It was a terrific location, quiet, beautiful and minus the mosquitoes, pretty fun. Best of all, they LOVED to share kisses!
Thank you A&T for allowing me to share the day with you.
Normally my blog posts feature recent work.
Today I wanted to introduce you to a fellow Calgarian and her Amazing Business- Sweetly Speaking.
Meet Barbara Forster
She has been operating Sweetly Speaking for nearly four years, but the business has been around since 2002.
Sweetly Speaking makes almost all their chocolates on-site and the chocolate is sourced from Belgium.
Sweetly Speaking has developed a method to create chocolates that are completely unique to you. They can create a custom mold of almost any object and turn it into an amazing work of art.
Yes, this sculptural piece is made entirely of chocolate.
If you are thinking about an ice sculpture for your wedding, they can create a chocolate sculpture (up to 5ft tall) instead.
White Chocolate, Milk chocolate, dark chocolate, they are all covered.
And of course, custom colours can be created.
When Sweetly Speaking first opened, their only focus was on weddings, but they have expanded to cover a much broader range of occasions and events today.
If you have a theme, they can create chocolates that suit it, whether it is soccer, hockey, cowboys, circus, if you can dream it up, they can probably create it for you.
Sweetly Speaking even has a liquor licence which allows them to create chocolate and wine (or other beverage) gift baskets.
For your wedding you can have chocolate wedding favours, a chocolate fountain, a chocolate sculpture, or even chocolate thank you gifts for your bridal party.
Who doesnt love chocolate.
This is such an incredible wedding. I was absolutely overwhelmed with all the colour and detail available. There was, as I have mentioned before, incredible food as well.
The couple had themed their wedding around fine art, and even had the cake inspired by Van Gogh's 'Starry Night'... So fun!!

I love weddings. I think I may have said this before, but I just love looking at these shots following the wedding and I always fall in love with the couple, all over again.
(I could love them for the awesome food too. I have never been to a wedding that hasnt had incredible food.)
But honestly, the brides and grooms never disappoint.

Say hello to the S. family. IF you recall, I did a post called BABY LOVE. That was their new son. They were so excited for those portraits that we decided to do a second shoot outdoors when the weather was gorgeous.
When we went outdoors, their little girl came to life. She was so excited to see the ducks and geese at the pond.
Weddings are absolutely fantastic, and I love it when I come across a groom with such amazing style. The white tuxedo was so striking, I couldnt stop getting great shots of him. Not to mention he was a man of details, right down to the Louis Vuitton cuff Links. WOW!
Of course the LOVELY bride was no slouch either. She had the traditional Chinese red silk dress for the tea ceremonies. Hair pieces to match. And then a GORGEOUS white gown for the wedding ceremony, with an entirely new hair-do. AMAZING stuff!!
