Compared to last year, the weather was miserable. However, we didn't get completely soaked, and the wind didn't completely blow us all away, so in the end, it was a success.
The JDRF had a goal to raise just over $460,000.00 this year, and they were able to manage to raise $450,000.00 which is incredibly close. Even though the weather was not ideal, the crowd turnout was still very impressive. Here are a few snippets from the day. Even included some of the celebrity donor George Canyon. None of these shots would be possible without the assistance of my team of volunteer photographers. Mark Laurie, Drew Gregory, Claudia Tecuceanu, and Crystal Sujata. Once again, Sunley Photography is the official event photographer for the Calgary Telus Walk to Cure Diabetes. The Walk is a very FAMILY friendly event and is really intended for the kids to come out and have fun, it isnt a super-competitive race, so feel free to bring the babies and toddlers for an amazing time in Stanley Park.
Click Here for DETAILS I would love to see some familiar faces, and would love it even more if I knew that some of you were making donations to this wonderful organization.I support this organization because I believe no child should have to live with this illness, I have seen two family members live with type 2 diabetes, and I see that even as adults, they struggled at times with managing. I cannot imagine a child trying to cope and understand what is going on with their body. This is an illness that impacts the entire family. So, come have fun, and at the same time, perhaps you can help out a worthy cause. Cannot think of a much better use of the recent crop of dandelions that has sprouted all over the city.

Contact for more details. I was just itching to get some family photos done before the snow fell, but it seemed like I just wasnt going to have it happen this year. And then, at the last minute I got an email from a family I know. I was just so excited to get the fall shoot in, how could I resist? Two adorable little ones who were just waking up and getting going. It was an early morning for them, but they loved going down to the park and running around, throwing rocks in the water. This little girl was just such a doll, and so natural in front of the camera. And mom was having a terrific hair day too. Have to admit, her brother was pretty cute too.
I know it is pretty common, but I have to say, I do love the fall for photos...Although, winter is pretty terrific too.. And I can think of some really wonderful shots in spring and summer when I think about it... I guess it's all good. I love going out into the country and spending time with families who have the space to roam. This family had some wonderful dogs who were just so loving, they followed us everywhere as we did our shoot. The children were absolutely amazing.
I love getting the chance to travel out of town to meet new families. Here was another great shoot. A young family just outside the city. Big brother was amazing with his baby sister, by far one of the most polite young men I have met in quite a while. The whole family made this shoot absolutely fantastic.
Baby had the most incredible blue eyes. Wathc Earlier this year I had a chance to spend some time with J&M, capturing some moments with their 2 year old son and J's growing belly. The new arrival finally arrived and I was able to spend a nice morning with J & her family, enjoying some laughs and appreciating their little gift. J has a beautiful office with these interesting shelves and some amazing windows that allowed us to capture this shot of little L. He was such a co-operative little model. Happy Mom and Dad with little L. Big brother having some fun with Dad. Such a busy summer! I have been busy with life and have not placed an update for quite a few weeks. So, here you go, some catching up. This was M's youngest daughter who I have photographed in the past. This time I had the wonderful experience of attending her first communion (just happened to be mine as well). She is just such a photogenic little girl, and you can just see the little sparkle of mischief in her eyes. This was such a great event, I even ended up meeting the whole extended family after the ceremony. Great traditional Italian Catholic family. Its so nice to see families get together for such events. There were so many great shots from this communion. I had never been in this church before, and the lighting was amazing, as well as the full wall of stained glass. And now for something completely different. L&S have decided to spend their lives together, and asked me to capture the special moments of their celebration. We had such a terrific day to capture their special moments. We spent the morning wandering around with their dogs, over looking the city. It was absolutely spectacular weather, and the models were so much fun to work with. L&S have some absolutely wonderful friends who came out to help them celebrate. I recently did maternity photos for S, and I got the opportunity to return to her home and capture some moments with her new addition. He was such a gorgeous, alert little soul. Even though he was so fresh and new, he had such a look of age and knowledge in his eyes. S is such a beautiful mother. I cannot say any more than that. |
