Several times a year, the organization Women of Influence hosts an evening speaker series entitled "Young Women of Influence" and I have had the opportunity to be a part of several of these events.
The most recent event held here in Calgary featured Jennifer Wong the Chief Operating Officer of Aritzia.  It is always so encouraging and enlightening to hear young women who are successful in the business world speak and share their experiences, and Jennifer's stories were no exception.
If you are someone who is just starting out, or even has been in her career path for a while, these sessions are always a terrific way to come meet other women and receive encouragement and perspective from women who have been through challenges of their own.  I cannot recommend them enough.

Every year on Mother's Day I join Mark Laurie of Inner Spirit photography to photograph the SportChek Mother's Day Run.  This event helps to raise money for the Neonatal intensive Care unit at the Children's Hospital.
Here are a few shots from the day.
The amount of work and preparation done before the event even occurs is absolutely incredible.  Volunteers are out in full force, very early in the morning.  Here is a shot of some of the hundreds of water bottles that were laid out for all the race participants.
You might wonder who these two men are below, and why I might have included a shot of them, but every year I entrust my life in their hands.  They raise me up on an enormous sky-jack crane that is usually used for cleaning windows on high-rise buildings throughout the city.  They make sure that I am secured in with my harness, and they keep me company for the several hours I am up there covering the event.
This year was by far the warmest year I have been involved with the event.  In years past I have shot this event in rain, winds, and even snow.  I was ever so grateful for the beautiful warm sunshine this year.

All images shot in conjunction with Ed Ross Photography.

Life gets so busy, but I am always trying to improve my photography skills.  So if you want to see what that looks like, check out my personal/ professional project here. Daily updates.http://project-365x2.posterous.com/

I have to admit, the Blogging has to be one of the most challenging things I do.  It always gets left behind when I am so busy shooting and meeting with my amazing clients.

So, here is a little re-cap for the last three months.. Hope you enjoy.

(And if the colours are looking funny, I don't know what to say, they were right when I edited, but somewhere along the way into the web world they have become degraded and are not nearly as nice as they were, I am not happy. Computers do not always do justice to artwork.. Another reason to see work in person to truly appreciate it)
A little birthday party.. Turning one.. How Fun.!!.. Glad I could be there to share in all the joy...
Waiting for her very first baby... She couldn't have been more patient.
When baby finally came, she was a little bundle of wrinkles and skin and beautiful pinkness.. LOVE babies.
Corporate events.  Women of Influence Luncheon Speaker series.
Family together and getting ready to leave for great adventures.  Captured moments just before a tremendous journey in life.
Beautiful beautician.
Stunning Portrait Artist.  Fun to work with a Fellow Photographer.
Mandatory Family photos.. Besides.. I love this woman, even if she is my Mother in Law.
A perfect Pediatrician... I couldnt ask for more amazing clients to work with.  Not only gorgeous, but I would LOVE to find a Dr like her to work with my children.

The Fan Photo Winner decided to do her photos right away.  So here are a few from that wonderful day.  He was the most wonderful little model and I was just so happy to hold his tiny body in my arms.  He was such a strong and healthy little man.  I loved calming him and wrapping him up and I had a wonderful assistant Dana joining me so it made for an incredible shoot. Mom was a terrific model as well and participated in a few shots at the end when baby was sleeping soundly.

Birthday Parties are always so much fun.  I love spending time with kids and getting to know them when I dont have to be bossing them around.  This was a great opportunity for that because I let the girls tell me what they wanted to do.  They were a little out of their element at first, but as soon as they realized they could direct each other and create all sorts of poses for themselves, they let out their inner Divas, and we had a TON of fun.

The Fan Favourite Photo contest has closed and the winner is ...... Julia Gauley... Congratulations!!!
Thank you all for participating and voting on Facebook.  It was a fantastic success.

To see what I have been working on lately, check out my 365 project... Basically, since the start of 2012 I have been trying to shoot an image a day with my pocket camera (out of convenience, not preference).

http://project-365x2.posterous.com/

I have some exciting projects coming up, so keep checking back in the next few weeks to see what's new and exciting.

2011 has been an incredible year for me.  I was able to start the year off by meeting some amazing photographers from all over the world and work with them and learn from them for several days.
I was also able to take part in some AMAZING weddings.  Some were amazing for the preparation and decoration, gorgeous brides an amazing venues.  One was amazing for the incredible love and chemistry between the bride and groom.
I spent time with fresh-from-heaven babies, and some absolutely beautiful families.  It was a terrific year overall and on that note, it seems appropriate to start the new year right.

So, I give to you……. (drumrolll please)

The holidays have come and gone.. Seems like I seem to have forgotten about posting on the blog over the holidays. So, if you missed anything on Facebook, here are a few shots that were sent out for Christmas cards.
Some of my favorite kids to work with.  A ton of fun and so stunning.  I have been watching these girls grow up and their little brother finally came out of his shell this session and gave me some terrific poses, but they were definitely on his terms.
