Just a few shots from this evening. Such a wonderful organization. I had no idea just how many people are affected by this disease, as well as the work that is being done to help patients on dialysis and in need of organ donation.
Please take the time to visit their website and learn more. http://www.kidney.ca/ http://www.kidneymarch.ca/ This is such a fantastic school. The building itself was absolutely amazing. Inside and out, there has been a lot of care taken to maintain much of the original wood, stone and glass. But what really made this school remarkable were the students (probably the staff as well). I was able to be present for the assembly and presentation of the cheque to the Kidney Foundation, and the level of respect shown by the students was tremendous.
The students had raised over $8000.00 for the Kidney Foundation. Did I mention that this is a K-6 school? Fantastic stuff. I was just itching to get some family photos done before the snow fell, but it seemed like I just wasnt going to have it happen this year. And then, at the last minute I got an email from a family I know. I was just so excited to get the fall shoot in, how could I resist? Two adorable little ones who were just waking up and getting going. It was an early morning for them, but they loved going down to the park and running around, throwing rocks in the water. This little girl was just such a doll, and so natural in front of the camera. And mom was having a terrific hair day too. Have to admit, her brother was pretty cute too.
I know it is pretty common, but I have to say, I do love the fall for photos...Although, winter is pretty terrific too.. And I can think of some really wonderful shots in spring and summer when I think about it... I guess it's all good. Generally, I tell people that I am not a wedding photographer. I do not want to have to deal with the pressure and the stress that weddings can create. However, I have been known to photograph a wedding if I know the couple, have had the couple referred by friends or know that the wedding is going to be very low-key. Such was the case with K&R. We had an absolutely fantastic day after weeks of horrendous weather. The couple chose Banff for their ceremony, and it was absolutely fabulous. A moment out on the golf course, in between players. We had to be stealthy. A very gorgeous gown. The bride suggested the newspaper with the rings. A little detail on the gown. I loved the buttons down the back. Getting a bit creative with the finishing and effects. She reminded me quite a bit of Jennifer Aniston, especially in person.
