This year has been so busy for me that I have not had the chance to catch up on the blog.
But here goes the first of a few posts to get me caught up. This is the G. family. They are huge fun. I love mom's choices for outfits. Not to mention the cutest little girl. It was such a fun shoot because they had some specific ideas about what they wanted to do. The most fun had to be when we went to the harley shop and posed with Daddy's Harley. Weddings are absolutely fantastic, and I love it when I come across a groom with such amazing style. The white tuxedo was so striking, I couldnt stop getting great shots of him. Not to mention he was a man of details, right down to the Louis Vuitton cuff Links. WOW! Of course the LOVELY bride was no slouch either. She had the traditional Chinese red silk dress for the tea ceremonies. Hair pieces to match. And then a GORGEOUS white gown for the wedding ceremony, with an entirely new hair-do. AMAZING stuff!! Shot in collaboration with Edward Ross Photography
This will be by far, the longest, most picture filled blog post I have ever done, only because this was the longest job I have ever been on. I spent the better part of three days with this amazing couple, and was allowed the privilege of learning a small part of their stories and their love for each other. By the end of the three days, I had fallen in love with them, and I cannot wait to see what will happen in their lives. I had the good fortune to give them a whirlwind tour of the city while at the same time being their photographer. Had the weather co-operated, we would have traveled more outdoors, but none of us really wanted to brave the snow and rain. Yes, they are soo in LOVE.. I absolutely adored spending time with them. It was relaxed, fun and full of LOVE... Ok, and it was really, really hard to pick just a few pictures from each thing that we did... so, yes, there are way, way, way too many pics up here.. but I do hope you enjoy. Compared to last year, the weather was miserable. However, we didn't get completely soaked, and the wind didn't completely blow us all away, so in the end, it was a success.
The JDRF had a goal to raise just over $460,000.00 this year, and they were able to manage to raise $450,000.00 which is incredibly close. Even though the weather was not ideal, the crowd turnout was still very impressive. Here are a few snippets from the day. Even included some of the celebrity donor George Canyon. None of these shots would be possible without the assistance of my team of volunteer photographers. Mark Laurie, Drew Gregory, Claudia Tecuceanu, and Crystal Sujata. Once again, Sunley Photography is the official event photographer for the Calgary Telus Walk to Cure Diabetes. The Walk is a very FAMILY friendly event and is really intended for the kids to come out and have fun, it isnt a super-competitive race, so feel free to bring the babies and toddlers for an amazing time in Stanley Park.
Click Here for DETAILS I would love to see some familiar faces, and would love it even more if I knew that some of you were making donations to this wonderful organization.I support this organization because I believe no child should have to live with this illness, I have seen two family members live with type 2 diabetes, and I see that even as adults, they struggled at times with managing. I cannot imagine a child trying to cope and understand what is going on with their body. This is an illness that impacts the entire family. So, come have fun, and at the same time, perhaps you can help out a worthy cause. Several times a year, the organization Women of Influence hosts an evening speaker series entitled "Young Women of Influence" and I have had the opportunity to be a part of several of these events.
The most recent event held here in Calgary featured Jennifer Wong the Chief Operating Officer of Aritzia. It is always so encouraging and enlightening to hear young women who are successful in the business world speak and share their experiences, and Jennifer's stories were no exception. If you are someone who is just starting out, or even has been in her career path for a while, these sessions are always a terrific way to come meet other women and receive encouragement and perspective from women who have been through challenges of their own. I cannot recommend them enough. I have to admit, the Blogging has to be one of the most challenging things I do. It always gets left behind when I am so busy shooting and meeting with my amazing clients. So, here is a little re-cap for the last three months.. Hope you enjoy. (And if the colours are looking funny, I don't know what to say, they were right when I edited, but somewhere along the way into the web world they have become degraded and are not nearly as nice as they were, I am not happy. Computers do not always do justice to artwork.. Another reason to see work in person to truly appreciate it) A little birthday party.. Turning one.. How Fun.!!.. Glad I could be there to share in all the joy... Waiting for her very first baby... She couldn't have been more patient. When baby finally came, she was a little bundle of wrinkles and skin and beautiful pinkness.. LOVE babies. Corporate events. Women of Influence Luncheon Speaker series. Family together and getting ready to leave for great adventures. Captured moments just before a tremendous journey in life. Beautiful beautician. Stunning Portrait Artist. Fun to work with a Fellow Photographer. Mandatory Family photos.. Besides.. I love this woman, even if she is my Mother in Law. A perfect Pediatrician... I couldnt ask for more amazing clients to work with. Not only gorgeous, but I would LOVE to find a Dr like her to work with my children.
The Fan Photo Winner decided to do her photos right away. So here are a few from that wonderful day. He was the most wonderful little model and I was just so happy to hold his tiny body in my arms. He was such a strong and healthy little man. I loved calming him and wrapping him up and I had a wonderful assistant Dana joining me so it made for an incredible shoot. Mom was a terrific model as well and participated in a few shots at the end when baby was sleeping soundly.
Birthday Parties are always so much fun. I love spending time with kids and getting to know them when I dont have to be bossing them around. This was a great opportunity for that because I let the girls tell me what they wanted to do. They were a little out of their element at first, but as soon as they realized they could direct each other and create all sorts of poses for themselves, they let out their inner Divas, and we had a TON of fun.
