Every year on Mother's Day I join Mark Laurie of Inner Spirit photography to photograph the SportChek Mother's Day Run. This event helps to raise money for the Neonatal intensive Care unit at the Children's Hospital. Here are a few shots from the day. The amount of work and preparation done before the event even occurs is absolutely incredible. Volunteers are out in full force, very early in the morning. Here is a shot of some of the hundreds of water bottles that were laid out for all the race participants. You might wonder who these two men are below, and why I might have included a shot of them, but every year I entrust my life in their hands. They raise me up on an enormous sky-jack crane that is usually used for cleaning windows on high-rise buildings throughout the city. They make sure that I am secured in with my harness, and they keep me company for the several hours I am up there covering the event. This year was by far the warmest year I have been involved with the event. In years past I have shot this event in rain, winds, and even snow. I was ever so grateful for the beautiful warm sunshine this year.
